Super-rad fungus

Today, my sister showed me something in our backyard that looked like this and smelled like crap, seriously.

We found out that it's a column stinkhorn. And also, the scientific name for the stinkhorn family is Phallaceae. Which is funny.

So, we were inspired to go across the street and search for more weird-looking fungus... We didn't find any as awesome as the stinkhorn, but still, it was cool. :P

  1. That's pretty awesome... in a really gross kind of way. :o
It reminds me of biology class. We had to find shelf fungus, mushrooms, and puffballs, and dissect them. There's also a tree in my neighborhood that's covered in shelf fungus, and there's one on it that's several inches thick.
